Congratulations to the FC United Quickshots U9 girls primary all star team for their most recent championship at the Strawberry Cup in Hammond, LA. The Quickshots won all four of their games to win the tournament in the U10 Blue Division conceding only one goal the entire weekend. The Quickshots are currently ranked 2nd in the State with a record of 30-6-1. Way to go girls!
The FC United U12 Girls (Team Pressure) were the Finalists in the Gold division of the Strawberry Cup this past weekend, losing 3 to 1 in the finals against the #7 ranked Madisonville Piranha’s. Team Pressure continues to be a strong competitor in all their tournaments, winning four of their last 5 tournaments.
The FC United U12 Girls (Team Pressure) won the Gold Division at Soccerfest in New Orleans this weekend. They defeated a U13 team that was a last minute substitution to win the bracket. Team Pressure defeated the number three team in Louisiana (5 to 1) to win the tournament and were the only team to score a goal against them during the tournament. This is their fourth straight tournament victory. Congratulations!
Pass Christian senior Devin McGee has signed a soccer scholarship with Southern Miss. She joins Breann Hedin of Long Beach, a teammate on the Bruni Select Soccer Team, as a Southern Miss soccer signee.
McGee played for coach Marco Mthembu at Pass Christian. She was six-year letterman, earned All-State honors in 2012 and 2013, and was a member of the Sun Herald All-South Mississippi Soccer Team in 2012.
She was selected to the 2013 Mississippi Association of Coaches South State All-Star team along with Hedin. McGee led Pass Christian in goal scoring for four consecutive seasons.
She was a center midfielder and center defender for Pass Christian, and is projected as a left defender at Southern Miss.
South Alabama, North Florida, UT-Martin and Jacksonville State were among the teams recruiting her in soccer, and she also was recruited in track. She competes in the 800-meter run and the 4×400 relay for Pass Christian.
McGee and Hedin have been teammates in select soccer for the Bruni teams since U-11 days, and they won three state championships in select soccer.
